Library Support Assistant - 07002C

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides assistance to all students, faculty, staff, and patrons while staffing the service desk, including providing research assistance, desk services, printing assistance, and responding to chat and email questions
  • Solely responsible for opening the Dean B. Ellis Library on Saturday and Sunday
  • Closes the Library on Saturdays and other days as needed
  • Assists in training, coordinating and supervising the student workforce for efficient operation
  • Provides library tours and instruction sessions
  • Maintains statistics
  • Takes headcount at designated times
  • Works on special projects and other duties as identified or needed



Knowledge of computers and software application programs, standard library practices, filing and record-keeping procedures and basic math, and customer service principles

Ability to perform data entry, typing, and word processing, research records to verify and update materials, and operate general office equipment


General Days/Hours:

Monday 10:30am – 8:00pm
Tuesday 10:30am – 8:00pm
Wednesday 10:30am – 8:00pm
Thursday Off
Friday Off
Saturday 11:45am – 6:15pm
Sunday 11:45am – 8:45pm

Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance



Processes routine forms for lost, damaged, and missing books

Job Requirements

The formal education equivalent of a High School Diploma

One (1) year of experience in library services

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
