Development Advancement Specialist / Associate Director of Development - A00393

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •     This position identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gift prospects. The incumbent is responsible for planning, executing and administering a major gifts program for an assigned program or college in collaboration with the dean(s), development supervisor and vice-chancellor for university advancement. The officer must be knowledgeable and articulate about current giving opportunities and develop new ones
  •     The officer engages volunteers in fundraising efforts or service activities, performs special projects and other duties as assigned, monitors all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations in collaboration with the Associate Director of Donor Relations. Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing major gifts. Extensive travel is required to cultivate and solicit donors
  •     This individual will work across the Advancement division alongside Annual Giving, Advancement Services and the A-State Alumni Association to implement fundraising plans for the College of Agriculture and the Neil Griffin College of Business. Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree program
  •     Other duties as assigned


Knowledge of development/fundraising moves management
Knowledge of gift planning and procedures
Knowledge of higher education programs, goals and objectives

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as are excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to relate to fundraising programs to university goals and objectives
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with donors, volunteers, athletics and advancement staff
Ability to adapt and respond to various situations
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time

Possess a thorough understanding of all programs within the University
Willingness and ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
Willingness to ask donors/alumni for financial support
Disciplined self-starter who regularly achieves work goals

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Some nights and weekends for travel and events

Job Requirements

An earned Bachelor’s Degree

One (1) year or more of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
