Development Advancement Specialist / Associate Director of Donor Relations - A00391

Duties & Responsibilities:

  •     The Associate Director of Donor Relations (ADDR) reports to the Director of Development and works closely with colleagues in Development, Advancement Services, the ASU System Foundation, the Office of Financial Aid, Deans, Scholarship Committees, the Director of Annual Giving, the Student Philanthropy Council, donors and other internal and external partners. S/he will establish, implement, and manage a comprehensive scholarship and stewardship recognition plan that enriches the philanthropic experience for students, alumni, friends, and corporate and foundation partners
  •     This position works closely with each college’s scholarship committee to award privately funded scholarships in a timely manner to students at Arkansas State University. S/He will update endowment donors with information regarding new recipients and academic status of current recipients upon completion of each semester. This person will work collaboratively with the Financial Aid office and the ASU System Foundation to ensure established criteria, guidelines and award amounts for scholarship are being prepared correctly as well as preparing impact reports for endowment donors
  •     The ADDR will be responsible for establishing stewardship strategies that are scalable, tiered, and targeted to deepen giving relationships and position donors to advance through the pipeline. This will include events, videos, written correspondence, and digital messaging in collaboration with the advancement team and the campus community. This position ensures development colleagues have the resources they need to complete individual stewardship with their assigned donors
  •     Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of development/fundraising techniques, gift planning and procedures
Knowledge of higher education programs, goals and objectives
Knowledge and understanding of endowments

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as are excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to plan and execute successful events
Ability to relate fundraising and stewardship programs to university goals and objectives
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, donors, volunteers, athletics and advancement staff
Ability to adapt and respond to various situations
Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
Ability to learn systems and technologies quickly

Disciplined self-starter who regularly achieves work goals
Willingness and ability to travel and work a flexible schedule
Possess a thorough understanding of all programs within the University
Appreciation for and understanding of diverse audiences and communities

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Some nights and weekends for travel and events

Job Requirements

An earned Bachelor’s Degree

One (1) year or more of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or parts of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
